Real-Time Incident Reporting and Emergency Response: A Mobile GPS App for Abuyog, Leyte, Philippines

The growing use of mobile devices and the integration of Global Positioning System (GPS) technology has opened up new and innovative avenues for improving emergency response systems. This research paper investigates the development and deployment of a mobile and web application for Android that utilizes GPS services to enhance incident emergency response in Abuyog, Leyte, Philippines. The proposed system is tailored to counter the challenges of delayed emergency response, lack of portability, and the need for efficient information delivery during critical situations. Through the utilization of mobile device capabilities and GPS integration, the application enables users to quickly report incidents, pinpoint their location, and notify the relevant authorities. It is designed to be user-friendly, cost-effective, and energy-efficient, ensuring reliable and accessible service for the community. Research findings have demonstrated the effectiveness of the developed system in reducing emergency response times and enhancing the overall emergency management process in the target region. This study employed an iterative development process, incorporating client feedback throughout. The system underwent repeated testing and revisions until it satisfied the client. Evaluation by thirty end-users yielded a high acceptance rate, reflected in an overall grand mean score of 4.77. This score, measuring system quality and performance, demonstrates the strong acceptance of the system and its accompanying mobile app.
