Effect of Transmission Range and Grid Dimensions on Route Cost in WSN Using TABU Search Algorithm

The objective of this work is establish effect of grid size of wireless sensor network and transmission range on the cost incurred by a TABU search algorithm. The simulation work showed that as the area enclosed the WSN nodes increases, so does the cost of transferring data between nodes as a function of routes, and this will definitely affect energy and transmission power. Also, the work shoed that as the transmission range decreases, the cost increases. Thus, the grid dimension and transmission range work in an opposite manner. Both will affect routing cost used by the TABU search algorithm. The work also established a power relationship between grid dimensions and average cost, which helps in optimizing WSN geometrical design. The work also established a mathematical expression relating cost to WSN nodes count.
