Acorn 4.0: An Platform Auxilied by AI for Acorn Value Chain Optimization

This work illustrates the initial results obtained within the scope of the WebLand project, presenting the needs, industrial factors and methodology used in the development of a digital solution aimed at the bolota trade in Portugal, valuing the value chain of this abundant product. The project envisages the development of a marketplace platform that allows tracking national acorn production, predicting supply and searching, as well as assisting in choosing logistical routes for transporting this material. The platform's functionalities are supported by artificial intelligence algorithms for analyzing complex data and dynamic routes considering conditioning factors in the process of purchasing and using this product and by-products through convulational models. The data collection, its normalization and characterization in relation to the different ones are specific results of the initial activities, also presented in this work, which support the implementation of the data model in the concept of valuing acorns as an option to conventional products. The proposed solution within the scope of this project foresees and idealizes assistance in making logistical decisions with the intention of reducing the desperation of agricultural production, quickly connecting classes in the value chain and reducing the environmental footprint associated with acorns.
