Impact of Layer Height on Dimensional Accuracy in FDM 3D Printing

The primary objective of this study is to evaluate the impact of layer height on the dimensional accuracy of 3D- printed products. Specifically, it investigates the changes in linear dimensions A, B, and H of the samples as the layer height varies from 0.10 mm to 0.30 mm. To achieve this goal, experiments were conducted on the Designer Classic 3D printer, which was installed in the laboratory of the Department of Technological Equipment, Engineering, and Standardization at Abylkas Saginov Karaganda Technical University. The characteristics of FDM technology, such as the influence of printing parameters (including layer height, nozzle temperaure, printing speed, and infill density), were analyzed in detail to ensure thorough investigation for process optimization and product quality improvement. In this study, 1.75 mm diameter PLA filaments were used, as this material offers good adhesion, low shrinkage, and high stability during printing.
