2D Electrical Resistivity Imaging for the Characterization of Soils near the Cerro Patacon Landfill, Panamá City

This research was developed with the 2D electrical resistivity tomography methodology to characterize the soils near the Cerro Patacón landfill; located at the southwest sector of the current waste deposit of Panama City. For the measurements, a total of 48 electrodes with a separation of $3 m$ were used. As a result, the range of electrical resistivity were obtained between 8.0 and 25.0 ohm.m. These values demonstrate that there are anomalies in the soil due to high electrical resistivity, which are associated to a rocky structure with low presence of discontinuities. On the other hand, zones with low electrical resistivity are associated with geological structures that have discontinuities.
