Correlation of Electrical Resistivity in Concrete and Soils to Evaluate the Quality of Materials in Construction

Electrical resistivity is a fundamental property for assessing the quality of construction materials, especially concrete and soil. In this study, we investigated the assessment between the electrical resistivity of these two materials, with the aim of establishing a reference framework for their joint application in defect detection and structural integrity assessment. Experimental tests were performed that included variations in chemical composition, moisture and texture, both in concrete and soil samples. The results indicate that there is a significant assessment between the electrical resistivity of concrete and soil under controlled conditions, suggesting that both materials can be jointly assessed to improve the accuracy in defect detection. This study provides a solid basis for the use of electrical resistivity as a non-destructive and efficient method in the quality assessment of construction materials, with practical implications in civil engineering and geotechnics.
