Hardware-in-the-Loop Modeling and Simulation of the Fin Control Subsystem with DSP

The objective of this work is the comparison between two different methods for Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) simulations for a fin positioning control on a more electric aircraft. One, a well established commercial platform (Typhoon HIL 602+) and the other using a Texas Instrument F28379D microcontroller. For the implementation on the microcontroller, one of the cores is responsible for the simulation of the model of a Three-Phase Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine based on the Typhoon HIL documentation, while the other is responsible for the control of the system. For the HIL simulation on the Typhoon HIL, the same model of the PMSM is to be used on the Typhoon HIL, while the control of the system is also made by one of the cores of the microcontroller. As the purpose is the comparison, the control strategy is the same for both simulations and it is based on the well established Field Oriented Control (FOC) with a difference on the stator current control, in which the Model Predictive Current Control (MPCC) is used.
