Chaotic Dynamics and Self-Recovery Control for a Magnetic-Levitation Spacecraft Under Single-Rod Fault

The magnetic-levitation spacecraft is a potential solution to improve the attitude control accuracy of spacecraft in the future. However, if a single-rod fault occurs during the on-orbit phase, the inner collision of the magnetic-levitation spacecraft may cause a chaos phenomenon. To address this problem, this study first analyzes the maximum number of actuator faults that a magnetic-levitation spacecraft can withstand. Second, the chaotic dynamics is established by the Poincaré mapping approach, and the eigenvalues of the Jacobi matrix are, thus, analyzed to judge its stability, which is adopted to preliminarily screen out the chaotic region. Third, the self-recovery controller based on the OGY method (a chaos control method proposed by E. Ott, C. Grelogi, and J. A. Yorke) is proposed to drive the collision trajectory out of the chaotic domain. Finally, the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed approach is verified by numerical simulation.
