Advanced PCI Express Receiver Channel Signal Quality Validation for AI Server

In this study, we present an enhanced methodology for evaluating the signal quality of PCI Express receiver channels. Our approach incorporates the use of a PCIe Riser equipped with various loss boards, enabling the simulate the scenario of different channel lengths and loss conditions. This innovative addition facilitates the fine-tuning of the test environment to reflect a range of trace loss scenarios, thereby providing a more robust assessment of signal integrity. The methodology leverages an advanced RX Eye Diagram analysis to accurately gauge the signal quality. By examining the Eye Height and Eye Width metrics, we can track the trend of the eye size, which serves as a reliable indicator of the receiver channel's performance and robustness. The integration of the PCIe Riser into our testing framework allows for a detailed understanding of the channel's behavior, supporting targeted design improvements. Overall, our proposed methodology offers a comprehensive tool for the precise evaluation and optimization of PCI Express receiver channels, ensuring enhanced signal quality and system reliability.
