Low-Complexity Architecture of Orthogonal N-Continuous Precoding for Sidelobe Suppression of OFDM Signals and Its Analysis

High sidelobes of orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) signals must be resolved for future wireless communications. In this study, we propose and analyze an efficient orthogonally linear precoding to suppress the sidelobes in OFDM systems. The proposed scheme uses a decomposed precoder on the real domain for a successive N-continuous technique. Comprehensive theoretical analyses justify its performance and have mathematical representations parallel with the counterparts of related precoding schemes. In conclusion, the proposed scheme drastically reduces the conventional precoding’s complexity to a level matching that of a fast Fourier transform for OFDM and provides 99 % storage overhead reduction. All its inherent advantages are maintained such as fast, smooth, and symmetrical spectral decay of band-edges, and ideal characteristics of error rate and peak power.
