Design and Development of an IoT-Based Load Monitoring Device for Three-Phase Building

Efficient energy management in three-phase buildings requires real-time monitoring of electrical parameters. This paper presents the design, development, and implementation of an IoT-based load monitoring device integrated with a cloud-based data-logging system for a three phase building at the Caraga State University - Cabadbaran City. The study aims to enhance energy management by inspecting the existing electrical infrastructure, developing a real-time load monitoring device, and evaluating its accuracy and functionality. The device employs a 3-phase AC voltage sensor, KCT-36 split core current transformer, ESP32 microcontroller, and Arduino Uno R3 for data processing. Iterative calibration achieved voltage sensor accuracy with a negligible error of 0.01% and a maximum error of 2.18%, while current sensor accuracy showed a negligible error of 0.01% and a maximum error of 9.96%. Key findings include the device's ability to effectively visualize real-time data on voltage, current, and transformer loading through a web application. This system enhances maintenance and energy management, reducing power outages and equipment damage. The developed load monitoring device provides a scalable and cost-effective solution for academic, residential, and industrial settings, ensuring reliable and efficient energy use.
