Abstract:
Registrations for battery electric vehicles are growing as the demand for sustainable mobility increases. Nevertheless, the number of electric vehicles is rising much faster than the number of installed charging points. However, establishing charging infrastructure is expensive and not profitable, especially in remote areas. A mobile hydrogen-powered charging station offers the opportunity to charge electrically off-grid and to serve high temporary charging demands at event locations like concerts. Therefore, the system of a mobile hydrogen-powered charging station is designed and demonstrated. The system consists of hydrogen pressure tanks, a fuel cell system, battery system, DC/AC inverters, and charging points for battery-electric cars and pedelecs. In addition, an intelligent load and energy management system controls the charging process for several vehicles and defines the power split between the fuel cell and battery in the charging station.
