Fleet Characteristics Analysis for the Generation of a Generic Commercial Fleet Model

With the increasing number of electric vehicles (EVs) the charging demand grows accordingly. Especially fleets stress the power system due to fast electrification, high-power, and simultaneous charging. Charging management can help improve the system, but typically require currently not-available fleet data for setup and training. This paper analyzes the theoretical fleet behavior regarding arrival, departure, state of charge, and charging strategy, and explores and explains their statistical parameters. The analysis is based on a real-world dataset, which contains around 84,200 charging sessions. The resulting data and equations can be used to create a generic model for the realistic generation of commercial EV fleet profiles.
