PLC based Industrial Power Management System

The traditional manual change-overs during the time of power cut-off and voltage instability are time-consuming, can damage machinery, and endanger lives. A power management system enhances plant safety by ensuring power and steam for critical loads and preventing blackouts. Traditional use of relays in industries required manual operations, resulting in degraded output quality. PLCs offer reliability, flexibility, and accuracy to automation systems. This paper describes the project that aims to design and implement automatic power switching between an incoming power line and a backup source during line cut-offs, over-voltage, and under-voltage conditions, and switch back to the main line once stable. The system is monitored and controlled via HMI and PLC, eliminating issues like over-voltage, under-voltage, and complete power shutdowns.
