Bridging Theory and Practice in Industry 4.0: A Case Study of Vibration Analysis Using LoRaWAN in Senior Design Project Course

Industry 4.0 is the fourth industrial revolution which is growing fast among companies and stakeholders. This is due to the highly demanding market in flexible manufacturing in order to respond rapidly. For this reason, predictive maintenance will reduce the machine’s downtime and improve the productivity of the companies. In this paper, a vibration analysis for predictive maintenance case study is presented to bridge the gap between the theory and practice in engineering technology education. The course layout and its milestones, and structures will be discussed to provide a roadmap of how to incorporate Industry 4.0 into capstone projects.
