Simulation-Inserted Optimization of Sixth-Pole Waveguide Filter With Quasi-Newton Method

Recently, a novel electromagnetic (EM) optimization method, called as Simulation-inserted optimization (SIO), utilizes the finite element method (FEM) to solve the EM response. In the SIO technique, quasi-Newton method is introduced to accelerate the optimization processes. The SIO technique with quasi-Newton method outperforms other gradient-based optimization methods, including the SIO with Newton's method. This paper seeks to apply the SIO technique with quasi-Newton method to design a sixth-pole filter with two transmission zeros.
