Beam Modulation on 1-Bit Transmissive Reconfigurable Metasurface in C-Band

A 1-bit transmissive active metasurface unit is designed. Two PIN diodes are always in opposite states, so that the X-polarized waves correspond to symmetrical structures in two different states. Moreover, the feed network is designed in order to make the X-polarized waves produce different electromagnetic responses when passing through the metasurface. The symmetrical structure makes the metasurface element form a phase difference of 180 degrees while the transmission coefficient remains almost unchanged, and the transmission coefficient is over 0.7 in the band of 5–7 GHZ. 17% relative bandwidth is achieved in the C-band Besides, simulation software is used to verify the beam control capability of the metasurface array, which realizes the nearfield focusing function of the translational focus at 6.1GHz.
