Interference Potential of PC Noises to Ultra Wideband Systems

The impact of electromagnetic noise emitted from PCs on ultra wideband (UWB) systems is investigated. Numerical evaluation of the PC clock harmonics on the bit error rate (BER) shows that they degrade the BER when a UWB terminal is placed near the PC. It also shows that spread spectrum clocking (SSC), which is commonly used to reduce the noise power spectral density of PCs, does not mitigate the degradation.
