Development of Non-Invasive Embedded Surface Electrogastrogram for Fasting and Multi-Postprandial State Monitoring

This paper presents an analysis of gastric electrical activity under fasting and multiple postprandial conditions using a developed embedded surface Electrogastrogram (EGG) system. By examining these variations, our study aims to better understand how gastric motility responds to food consumption using the device we have developed. To achieve this, EGG data were obtained from five subjects in controlled fasting and postprandial conditions. Then advanced signal processing techniques were used to filter out interference and improve the clarity of the recorded signals. After that, several methods were used to obtain EGG features. These methods include Fast Fourier Transform (FFT), Power Spectral Density (PSD) and cycles per minute (CPM) that has good performance for EGG analysis. We also performed ANOVA to analyze the results statistically. The results showed significant changes in gastric electrical signals between fasting and postprandial conditions (p < 0.05), with Channel 1 consistently showing the strongest response.
