Energy Management Strategy Development for Formula-E Race Cars

The primary objective of this study is to analyze the energy consumption patterns of Formula E racing cars under various track conditions. Furthermore, the research identifies strategies to extend the driving range of electric vehicles and optimize their energy management, contributing to the development of more efficient electric vehicle technologies. Extensive studies and simulations were performed using MATLAB. A key part of the analysis involves creating a three-dimensional graph of the track, using data on track length and elevation. This graphical representation provided a detailed and realistic basis for the simulations. Real-world data, including the engine and aerodynamic characteristics of Formula E race cars, were used to ensure the accuracy and relevance of the research. A comprehensive physics model has been developed, incorporating various external factors that can affect the car throughout the race, such as track surface conditions, weather effects and drag aerodynamics. These elements have been carefully integrated into the vehicle model using well-established physics equations. The culmination of this research was the development of a complex simulation to investigate the impact of different racing strategies and track conditions on lap times. This study plays a key role in observing and understanding the behavior of Formula E cars on the track, especially in terms of energy consumption.
