Enhancing Power Quality with Dynamic Voltage Restorer

Nowadays power quality plays a major role in the power system which impacts industries and utilities. There are many sources like renewable resources, Smart grid technologies, and other power electronics equipment, by the integration of these sources, we will face some issues regarding voltage and current flowing in power systems. Due to this, it may cause harmonics, voltage sag, and swells in the network. That causes damage to the equipment, then the performance may decrease, these causes may affect the other components present to it. So, power quality is more important than ensuring the safe operation of the power system. Dynamic Voltage Restorer is an effective device that comes under power electronics equipment. It protects any kind of load from voltage imbalance in the network. This method is implemented by injecting the voltage at the load to bring it to a balanced power system. It reduces voltage sag and swells and also harmonics that are occurring in the network. Finally, the design of the MATLAB/ Simulink model for enhancing power quality is analyzed under conditions with and without the DVR. Implementing thisDVR strategy results in smooth and compensated load voltage.
