K-Minimally Risk Routing for Avoiding Interruption by Space Debris in Optical Satellite Networks

Space debris is one of the significant factors that can cause physical damage to optical satellite networks or interruption of the inter-satellite laser links. How to avoid obstruction from space debris is an important topic for optical satellite networking. In this paper, we develop the space debris risk model and propose k-minimally risk routing algorithms. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can reduce the blocking rate by 30% under light load and by 10% under heavy load. As a cost, the delay will be increased by about 20ms.
