289-Gb/s PAM-6 Transmissions with Joint PRE and Mapping-Rule-Based Simplified MLSE Decoder

We propose a joint PRE with MRS-MLSE decoder according to the mapping rule, reducing the complexity by 46.8%. The MRS-MLSE is activated when detected errors, which processes only 8.57% of total symbols at KP4-FEC threshold.
