Empowering Education Through Transformative Role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Teaching and Learning: Educators' Perspective and Research Trends

This research study explores the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education. Utilizing a mixed-methods approach, the study combines qualitative data collection techniques and document analysis to determine AI integration in educational settings as perceived by the Open University Systems graduate students who are teachers by profession. Through semi-structured interviews with educators, the study determines the advantages of AI technologies in providing tailored support, enhancing engagement, and improving academic performance. The study also determines the advancement of the increasing number of AI in Education research through a short bibliographic analysis from Scopus database. Recommendations are provided to address these challenges and promote ethical AI practices in the educational landscape. While there is a visible importance of AI in Education, most respondents are concerned about the ethical consideration, and it is recommended to create a policy to be included in the Open University Systems Manual of Operations (OUSOM). Also, while this research aims to contribute to a understanding of AI's transformative potential in education, the findings also see the importance of personalization, efficient assessment, and interactive learning environments.
