Low-Loss Interconnection Between SMF and NANF Using Coreless Fiber Ball-Lens

We propose a coreless fiber-melted ball-lens structure for low-loss interconnection between SMF and NANF. In experiment, we achieved an insertion loss of less than 0.24 dB per connection and a return loss about -43 dB.
