Mitigation of PV Output Curtailment by Applying EV Optimal Charging Mechanism with Monte Carlo Method

To achieve carbon neutrality, photovoltaic (PV) power is expected to be a major electricity source of renewable energy in Japanese power system, for an electric power system that must constantly maintain "supply = demand", PV power output curtailment is a prevalent phenomenon. This "output curtailment" results in lost opportunities for PV power generating possibilities. In this paper, for the expansion of PV power introduction and business continuity planning (BCP) of PV power producers, upward demand response driven by EV (electric vehicle) fleet optimal charging mechanism based on Monte Carlo method is proposed to mitigate PV power output curtailment in IoT/ICT coupling network. The excellence of the integration network coupled by electricity power, IoT (internet of things), and transportation systems is financially investigated by considering the cost of EV charging based on ToU (time of use) price and the profitability of mitigating PV output curtailment.
