Performance Analysis and Composition Study of a Perovskite Tandem Solar Cell on Research Perspective

The advent of perovskite tandem solar cells (PTSC) has revolutionized the photovoltaic landscape, boasting the conversion efficiency (CE) of up to 25-30%. Since the progress of solid-state PTSCs from 2011 is intense, core research towards that has led to the significant expansion in its architcture, material composition, device physics and operational characteristics. These innovations have transformed perovskite solar cells into a formidable contender for the next-generation solar energy harvesting, offering high efficiency, low material costs and offers robust performance as well. Perovskite materials have unique characteristics which may even surpasses the limitations of silicon based solar cells. This proposed manuscript explores the optimization of cell structures, doping methods and absorber thickness, achieving impressive efficiencies of 19% (HTL-free) and 25% (HTL) respectively. By refining these parameters and understanding the fundamentals of perovskite materials, potential of these perovskite solar cells can be unlocked and it could pave the way for their large-scale implementation. This paper also analyse the partial shading impacts on the photovoltaic (PV) array and the results are simulated.
