Observation of the State of the Near-surface Lithosphere Layer based on the Analysis of the Dynamics of the Geoacoustic Emission Signal Characteristics

The main cause for the occurrence of seismic phenomena is associated with tectonic movements of the earth's crust. Such displacements generate elastic waves propagating in the lithosphere. These waves are called geoacoustic emission. In this paper, we will consider geoacoustic emission signals in the frequency range from units of hertz to the first tens of kilohertz. The analysis of the characteristics of the geacoustic signal makes it possible to indirectly monitor the dynamics of the seismic process. This allows forming a conclusion about the degree of lithosphere stress. The paper presents the results of research on the dynamics of geoacoustic emission signal characteristics in near-surface sedimentary rocks. The digitized geoacoustic signal is converted into a three-dimensional image that reflects the dynamics of the signal characteristics over time. As a result of image analysis, anomalies in the dynamics of these characteristics were revealed. A technique for identifying groups of observed anomalies using a neural network was developed.
