Application Fractional Slot Concentrated Winding to Asynchronous Machines

This article presents the important problems of fractional slot concentrated winding in induction motors. The proposed winding type is widely used for permanent magnet machines. It is owing to a lower copper losses, higher slot filling factor and fault tolerance. Induction motors have several advantages such as low manufacturing costs, simplicity of design and high reliability. Therefore, the combination of an induction motor with fractional slot concentrated winding is an important scientific task. Harmonics components and their consequences are main aspects at this paper. The basic purpose is to consider a 1000kW high-voltage IM and compare the main problems with the literature review. The merits and demerits of ways for reducing the harmonic components are considered. In general, it is includes three stages. Firstly, brief theoretical information about negative influence of the spatial harmonics at efficiency is described. Secondly, literature review showed that low-order harmonics are reduced by flux barriers and coils with different turns per coil side. But multilayer, multiphase, dual slot layer stator winding configurations mitigate to both sub-harmonics and high-order harmonics. Thirdly, the results and prerequisites for achievements in this field have a scientific perspective due to a mutually beneficial combination. For a high voltage machine, harmonic effects have been discovered and a solution is outlined using the overlay method.
