Bend-Optimized Optical Fiber with Low Multipath Interference in the O-Band

This paper summarizes the design of a new fiber optimized for co-packaged optics and presents data on developmental prototypes that demonstrates their suitability for use in short-length optical interconnects operating at 1310 nm. Guidelines are provided for establishing a minimum bend radius for cable routing which prevents both the optical loss and the probability of a fiber break from exceeding predetermined limits.
