Massive MIMO Channel Modeling Based on B5G/6G and Consumer IoT

With the rapid increase in the number of network service terminal sites, the continuous improvement of network service latency requirements and security performance, and the significant increase in network energy consumption, the new generation of Consumer Internet of Things (CIoT) systems faces a series of new technical challenges. In the evolving landscape of CIoT, the amalgamation of B5G/6G and IoT technologies is reshaping the home appliance industry, driving innovation and enhancing consumer experiences. This transformation enables intelligent functionalities such as remote control and real-time monitoring, facilitated by B5G/6G’s low latency and high bandwidth capabilities. In contrast to the Long Term Evolution (LTE), beyond 5G (B5G) and 6G mobile communications have advanced wireless technology significantly to meet the demands of the Consumer Internet of Things (CIoT) in terms of spectrum efficiency and power efficiency. This progress is particularly notable in the enhanced exploitation of the spatial multiplexing capabilities of multiple antennas. A large-scale distributed Massive Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (Massive MIMO) system can be established by deploying large-scale antenna arrays or multiple antennas at the access point, interconnected via optical fibers, which markedly enhances the system’s overall spectrum efficiency. In this paper, the Urban Micro (UMi) millimeter wave channel modeling and character analysis for the Line of Sight (LOS) and Non-Line of Sight (NLOS) based on the actual data are studied. First, we collect actual RF wireless communication signals that are transmitted and received by the 64 Uniform Rectangular Array (URA) modules. The Space alternating Generalized Expectation-maximization (SAGE) algorithm is subsequently utilized to derive both large-scale and small-scale parameters from the millimeter wave data. Subsequently, the departure angle and angle spread of the transmitted signal, the arrival angle and angle spread of the received signal, the angular power spectrum, the Doppler power spectrum, and other parameters are used to model the Massive Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (Massive MIMO) channels. Overall many tests have been conducted using real Massive MIMO-based mmWave datasets to demonstrate the effectiveness and superiority of B5G/6G wireless communications in the CIoT field.
