Polarization-Independent Switchable Frequency Selective Rasorber Based on Parallel DC Bias Network

This paper proposes a polarization-independent switchable (PIS) frequency selective rasorber (FSR) based on a parallel DC bias network. The design includes three layers: a non-switchable lossy layer, a PIS lossy layer, and a PIS frequency selective surface (FSS). Both the PIS FSS structure and the PIS lossy layer can control the state of each diode through a specific DC bias voltage, thus achieving polarization-independent switchable performance. Equivalent circuit models (ECMs) are developed to explain the operation. A prototype is fabricated, assembled, and tested to confirm the operational principle of the proposed PIS FSR. The measured results show an ultra-wide stealth band (|S11|≤–10dB) with a 139.2% fractional bandwidth (FBW) and a switchable transmission band for both TE and TM polarizations.
