Situational Awareness Index System for Distribution System with A High Proportion of Renewable Energy Sources

As the penetration rate of renewable energy sources (RESs) continues to increase, the monitoring of real-time operational status is of significant importance for the dispatching of distribution systems. Therefore, a real-time situational awareness method for distribution systems with a high proportion of RESs is proposed in this paper. First, a situational awareness index system is constructed, which includes indexes of voltage deviation risk, equipment overload risk, power backflow risk, comprehensive line loss risk, and three-phase imbalance risk. On this basis, the real-time operation status of the distribution system and the evaluation results of the indexes are graded based on the criteria of grid operation security. Then, based on the radar chart method and the deviation maximization algorithm, the evaluation results of multiple indexes are integrated and visualized to provide support for system dispatchers. Finally, case studies are carried out on the modified IEEE 33-bus distribution system with a high proportion of distributed photovoltaics to verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method.
