Research on the Location and Capacity Determination Method of Grid-Forming Energy Storage Applied to HVDC Receiving Power Grid

With the continuous access to power grid of new energy, the overall electrical strength of the DC receiving power grid is weakening, and the transient voltage stability problem of the receiving power grid is prominent. To solve this problem, this paper proposes the location and capacity determination method of grid-forming energy storage applied to HVDC receiving power grid. First, based on the analysis of voltage stability mechanism after DC system is fed into the receiving power grid, the reactive power and voltage support capability of grid-forming energy storage and the feasibility of solving the above problems are explored. Then a double-layer model of grid-forming energy storage location and capacity determination is constructed. The upper layer carries out location planning, the lower layer carries out optimal operation, and the double-layer iterative solution is obtained to finally obtain the energy storage configuration scheme of the DC receiving power grid. Finally, the effectiveness and correctness of this method are verified by simulation analysis and the case study of Central China Power Grid.
