A Python Streamlit APP For the Merec-Spotis MCDA Method: A Practical Use for Selecting Training Aircraft

This research study investigates the use of a Python Streamlit App developed for the MEREC-SPOTIS Multicriteria Decision Aid (MCDA) method. To show the use of the tool, an analysis will be carried out on the acquisition of Lead in Fighter Trainer (LIFT) aircraft, for the Brazilian Air Force (FAB). In light of the recent acquisition of advanced fighter aircraft by the FAB, there’s a growing need to close the gap between the training aircraft that cadets fly in the academy, and the frontline fighter aircraft. By integrating the MCDA method, the app enables a systematic and transparent evaluation of multiple aircraft alternatives based on various criteria, such as cost, performance, and technological compatibility. Through a comprehensive analysis, the app generates a prioritized ranking of the alternatives, aiding decision-makers in making informed choices. This research demonstrates the practical application of the MCDA method in complex decision-making scenarios, highlighting its potential to support strategic planning and resource allocation in the defense sector.
