Design and Performance Analysis of a High Frequency Soft-Switching LCC Resonant DC-DC Converter for EV Applications

This paper suggests evaluating the effectiveness of high-frequency soft-switching in the LCC resonant DC-DC converter not only enhances overall efficiency but also minimizes switching losses, making it an ideal choice for improving the performance and reliability of power conversion systems in EV applications. This paper provides an overview of the fundamental operational principles, an in-depth examination, and the design of the converter parameters, using an exemplary case study as an illustration. This converter functions in two ways: a mode with a duty cycle of 50% and a mode with a constant frequency of 103 kHz. Operating curves determine the mode based on load demand. The study examined the efficiency of a power supply that operates within an input voltage range of 25V- 40V. It has a 48V output voltage and a 200W power output. We determine the converter's properties using the First Harmonic Approximation (FHA) approach and evaluate its performance at a steady state using PSIM simulation. We evaluate the simulation results of the 200-watt converter to validate the analysis, design, and showcase the converter's performance.
