Photonics-aided multiformat tunable LFM signal generation using Silicon-based Dual-drive MZM

A photonics-based approach to multiformat linear frequency modulated (LFM) signal generation with a tunable bandwidth and the center frequency is proposed and demonstrated by using an on-chip silicon-based Dual-drive Mach-Zehnder Modulator (DD-MZM). The proposed approach generates multiple formats of LFM signals realized in C and X-bands, with center frequencies at 4 GHz, 8 GHz, 12 GHz, and time-bandwidth product (TBWP) increased by twofold times.
