Performance Assessment of Interconnected Power System with AHA Based Feedforward Control

Growing power demand and dynamic load variation creates challenge for frequency regulation in multi-area-based power system with classical feedback control approach. This approach is activated in post-occurrence state; however, the feed forward control approach is activated in pre-occurrence of disturbances. Hence, this work investigates the efficacy of the feedforward controller in power frequency control of interconnected system. An interconnected 2-area thermal power system with nonlinearities is tested with feedback controllers, initially. The performances are compared with the proposed feedforward controller. Tuning of controller gains were also compared with some contemporary and the artificial hummingbird algorithm. Finally, the responses were analyzed for different case studies and the proposed controller performances were reported.
