Cost and Weight Comparison Between Dry-Type Transformer and Oil-Type Transformer

Transformers play a vital role in electrical power distribution systems. Dry-type and oil-type transformers are the two main types of power transformers. Despite their differences, understanding the total cost and weight of these transformer types is essential for optimizing the transformer design and making correct decisions in their selection and application. This study compares the weight and price of dry-type and oil-filled transformers. The evaluation mainly focuses on the weight and cost characteristics of dry-type and oil-filled transformers to assess their practicality and economic efficiency. The experimental results show substantial differences between the dry-type and oil-filled transformers. The oil-type transformer demonstrates a lower weight compared to the dry-type transformer. The oil-type transformer also has a lower cost compared to the dry-type transformer. Dry-type transformers are more environmentally friendly compared to oil-type transformers. These results highlight various attributes of dry-type and oil-filled transformers in terms of weight and cost. This study enhances understanding of the differences between these transformer types, aiding designers and customers in optimizing designs and making informed decisions when selecting transformers.
