Packet power-B-ISDN and the asynchronous transfer mode

The vast expense of installing a new infrastructure for the ISDN has now been accepted. The new type of network should be able to carry not only existing services of voice communication, but also those that might be needed well into the future such as data, facsimile and pictures. The authors discuss the use of the broadband ISDN with the asynchronous transfer mode based on fast packet switching.<
