Analysis of Low Frequency Electromagnetic Fields Onboard Vessels with Electric Propulsion with Operating Voltage 11 kV

The effects due to exposure of humans to low frequency electromagnetic fields (EMFs) are well known. Ships' technical personnel servicing electrical equipment are exposed to such fields as well as higher frequency EMFs generated by other parts of the equipment onboard the ship. The objective of the research is to analyze the EMFs with a frequency of 60 Hz, which are generated by particular parts of the electrical equipment onboard a passenger ship with electric propulsion drives and operating voltage 11 kV. The performed analysis is related to evaluation of the work conditions of the technical staff involved in the maintenance of the considered equipment. The current study continues the work of the author's collective to investigate shipboard EMFs generated by different pieces of electrical equipment.
