Leveraging the Rust Programming Language for Space Applications

This work explores how to leverage the Rust programming language for space applications and remote system applications in general. It explores possible options for the adoption of Rust and also introduces a novel library named satrs with the goal to simplify the work of engineers writing flight software for remote systems using Rust. A holistic approach is taken, covering the exploration of the existing ecosystem, the integration with ground systems, and the utilization of Rust's distinctive language features to improve the process of creating on-board software for remote systems.
