Pulsed Optically Pumped Rubidium Atomic Frequency Standard (POPRAFS): a Next Generation Atomic Clock

This presentation will describe the current development status of a pulsed optically pumped rubidium atomic frequency standard (POPRAFS) as a next generation atomic clock. Performance goals will be discussed as well as a design approach aimed at overcoming technical challenges associated with developing a manufacturable and automated frequency standard with minimal user interaction and with a suitable size, weight, and power (SWaP) for fieldable applications. Future work aimed at improving performance will also be presented.
