Novel Tri-Frequency Probe Development for Advanced Photo acoustic Gastrointestinal Imaging

This study designed an endoscopic diagnostic system based on tri-frequency photoacoustic imaging technology, aimed at improving the detection efficiency of lesions such as colorectal cancer. To verify the system's performance, we tested it using self-fabricated PDMS phantoms and pig intestine samples, simulating various lesion conditions and blood characteristics. The probe installation was accomplished using a triangular prism model made through 3D printing technology, and high-performance piezoelectric material PMN-PT was chosen for the ultrasound probe to ensure imaging quality. In terms of photoacoustic imaging, a laser light source with a wavelength of 532 nm generated acoustic signals, which were received by the tri-frequency ultrasound probe and converted into photoacoustic images, producing comprehensive images containing rich tissue information and detailed vascular structures[1]. This selection of the laser wavelength was based on its high absorption characteristics for hemoglobin. The ultrasound imaging system combined ultrasound probes operating at frequencies of 10 MHz, 30 MHz, and 40 MHz to generate B-mode images through scanning, which were then fused to create a final ultrasound image with high resolution and multi-layer depth information.
