A Platform for Enhanced Remote Care and Support for Older Adults

The acceptance of remote care solutions is steadily advancing, especially in assuring accessible healthcare services, monitoring vital signs and offering support for older adults. New Internet of Things (IoT) systems have been developed to tackle the healthcare professionals needs to track the health progress elders at appropriate intervals with the goal of assessing their condition remotely and planning timely interventions. This paper proposes a platform designed to meet healthcare needs of seniors and medical personnel through remote patient monitoring of activities (e.g. effort, sleep) and health parameters (e.g. blood glucose level, blood pressure, heart rate, Spo2, etc.). The platform takes advantage of the capabilities of modern wearable devices and smartphone technologies to capture live medical data and utilizes neural network algorithms to enable advanced data analysis to identify possible health problems. Including tailored access for care professionals, health analytics insights and integrated communication channels, the platform meets the current demands in the domain of remote healthcare services. The platform evaluation featured good results for the prediction algorithms on literature datasets and validated the feasibility of the overall remote monitoring infrastructure.
