Fabrication of High-Performance Organic Transistors through Thickness Control of the Templating Layer

This study explores the impact of $\boldsymbol{p}$-sexiphenylene (p6P) templating layer thickness on the charge transport properties of copper phthalocyanine (CuPc)-based organic thin-film transistors (OTFTs). The novelty of this work lies in systematically investigating how p-6P thickness affects the morphology and performance of the CuPc films. The results show that the optimal field-effect mobility, $0.164 \mathrm{~cm}^{2} / \mathrm{V} \cdot \mathrm{s}$, was achieved at a p-6P thickness of 7.5 nm, representing a significant improvement compared to other thicknesses. The enhanced performance is attributed to improved molecular alignment and reduced domain boundaries, offering a practical strategy for optimizing charge transport in organic electronic devices. These findings suggest that controlling the p-6P templating layer thickness can effectively enhance the performance of CuPc-based OTFTs.
