Fiber-Free Space Optic Improved with Dispersion Compensation of Fiber Bragg Grating and EDFA for A Point to Point Communication

Telecommunication technology is one technology that continues to grow and improve. In order to keep up with the advancement, an improvement of the existing Fiber Free Space Optic is necessary. This research offers an improved design of the Fiber-Free Space Optic by adding a new method and improving several areas of amplifications. This research considers the use of the Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) module to compensate for loss of performance of the system, especially for long-distance usage. The FBG module in theory will reflect the necessary wavelength. This paper also involves finding better strategic locations to implement optical amplification modules, including EDFA. Both of the module used commonly used in the optical communication network buat haven't been maximised int he Fiber-FSO hybrid communication network setup. The proposed design reaches 10 km of FSO range with 1 dB/km of attenuation and 10 km of fiber range on both sides of the transmitter and receiver. The performance of the design will be measured by the Q factor and the minimum BER parameters. The proposed design achieved the value of the Q factor above 9, and the BER minimum well above 10-²⁰• This paper will present the data through tables extracted from the simulation device and graphs gathered from the data. With the improvements, the design proposed in this research achieved an astonishing result in both the range of the system and the performance of the system. Good performance in the network proposed indicates the ready-ness of a hybrid Fiber-FSO setup usage especially when implemented in a metropolitan city.
