The 2024 Scott Helt Memorial Award was awarded to Yezeng Wu, Guochao Song, Hui Liu, Lixia Xiao, and Tao Jiang for their paper “3-D Hybrid Beamforming for Terahertz Broadband Communication System With Beam Squint.” The papers appeared in the IEEE Transactions on Broadcasting, vol. 69, no. 1, pp. 264–275, March 2023. The purpose of the IEEE Scott Helt Memorial Award is to recognize exceptional publications in the field and to stimulate interest in and encourage contributions to the fields of interest of the Society.

Yezeng Wu is currently pursuing the Ph.D. degree with the Research Center of 6G Mobile Communications, Wuhan National Laboratory for Optoelectronics, Huazhong University of Science and Technology. His research interests include massive MIMO.

Guochao Song received the B.S. degree in electronic and information engineering from the China University of Geosciences, Wuhan, China, in 2015. He is currently pursuing the Ph.D. degree with the Wuhan National Laboratory for Optoelectronics, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Hubei, China. His research interests include PHY/MAC designs and physical-layer security in wireless systems.

Hui Liu is with the Mobile Communications Innovation Center, China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, Beijing, China.

Lixia Xiao received the B.E. and M.E. degrees from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Chengdu, China, in 2010 and 2013, respectively, where she is currently pursuing the Ph.D. degree with the National Key Laboratory of Science and Technology on Communications. Her research interests include wireless communications, communication theory, signal detection, and performance analysis of wireless communication systems.

Tao Jiang (Fellow, IEEE) is currently a Distinguished Professor with the Research Center of 6G Mobile Communications, School of Cyber Science and Engineering, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan, China. He has authored or co-authored more than 600 technical papers in major journals and conferences and six books in the areas of wireless communications and networks. He has served or is serving as an Associate Editor of some technical journals in communications, including IEEE Network, IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, IEEE Communications Surveys and Tutorials, and IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology. He is the Area Editor of IEEE Internet of Things Journal and the Associate Editor-in-Chief of China Communications.
