Strategy Optimization for Range-Velocity Gate Pull-off Jamming

Range-velocity gate pull-off (RVGPO) jamming is an effective electronic countermeasure designed to deceive the advanced radar with joint range-velocity tracking ability. However, the multiplied dimensions of the RVGPO jamming strategy optimization problem pose a challenge in searching for the optimal strategy, which significantly constrains the performance of the RVGPO jamming. In response to this challenge, this article proposes a matching relationship-based RVGPO jamming method. To pass the check of a matching degree from the threat radar, the potential matching relationship between time delays and Doppler shifts is derived. With the assistance of a matching relationship, the solution space requiring exploration is substantially diminished, thereby simplifying the optimization problem for the RVGPO jamming strategy. To achieve effective RVGPO jamming strategies, an improved particle swarm optimization with optimal computing budget allocation scheme-based optimization algorithm is proposed. Finally, Monte Carlo simulations are performed over four typical tracking benchmarks. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed algorithm in dealing with the RVGPO jamming strategy optimization problem.
