Exploration of the Impact of Ambient Lighting on Immersion in Virtual Environments across Different Game Genres through Scales, Eye-Tracking and EEG

This study will explore how ambient lighting affects user immersion in virtual environments (VEs), and whether this influence varies across different game genres. Additionally, to enhance the accuracy of our results, we will further investigate the mechanisms through which ambient lighting affects user immersion across different games in virtual environments. This deeper exploration is intended to provide more comprehensive understandings of interaction between independent variables (ambient lighting and game genres) and the dependent variable (user immersion). By integrating quantitative scales, qualitative interviews, eye-tracking technology, and EEG data, the research provides a comprehensive understanding of how different lighting conditions influence immersion. The integration of eye-tracking technology and EEG can provide a deeper insight into user engagement and brain activity. Eye-tracking data offers precise measurements of gaze patterns, highlighting where users were looking and how they reacted to different lighting conditions. EEG data, on the other hand, allows for real-time monitoring of brain activity and offers a physiological perspective on immersion. The analysis of Alpha and Beta bands can provide valuable information on the neural correlates of immersive experiences.
